Sitting on the Stairs (open to all)

[Maya Porter]

It seemed to her that everyone in the entire school was one a rampage, attacking one another with spells and pranks. But still no one had gotten her at all so she sat on the sidelines and watched. She had on a black tank top and a puffy skirt, which was her usual style.

There she sat, on the steps leading up and into the rest of the castle. She didn't know where else to go and it seemed comfortable enough, random, but comfortable. She sighed and stretched her legs out. She didn't mind the stares from those passing her. Maya just ignored them.

[Frankie]

Frankie didn't pass he wandered right down the stairs and took a seat on the same step a little ways off so there was still a good space between them.

"Hey Maya... sup?"

He was playing with Spazz who was a little brown barn owl about the size of a grape fruit that was hanging upside down on his arm like a bat, his talons latched to Frankie's watch. Frankie couldn't help but laugh at Spazz's antics but that owl was never right.

[Maya Porter]

Maya tilted her head sideways slightly and back to look who was now talking to her.

"Hello Frankie."

She smiled, looking back a few seconds later back at her feet. She rested her arms in her lap, pushing down her already poofy skirt. She didn't know Frankie all that well but she didn't mind the having a conversation.

"What a cute little creature. What's it's name?"

[Frankie]

"This fine feathered little friend is Spazz... he..."

As Frankie was trying to make a proper introduction for Spazz, he had drawn his arm closer to his chest hoping Spazz would climb up on his shoulder, instead he climbed into Frankie's sleeve and down his shirt which made him laugh and squirm a little.

"Hey that is by invite only Spazz... and you're not invited... he's a spazz... just like his name."

Frankie wrestled the little owl from his shirt and set him on his knee only to have Spazz try and peck some of the short hair off his leg.

"OW! Mine, not yours!"


Spazz chittered at him and went back to pecking.

"Stop that... sorry... he's usually better behaved."

[Maya Porter]

Maya watched as the bird crawled down Frankie's shirt. She couldn't help but laugh. She wished she had an owl that was all hers. Instead she used her family owl when needed. Besides Binx would probably try to eat it.

"Well then the name fits, I guess. It's probably me, I have an weird effect on things."

She continued to watch the owl, brushing her hair with her fingers. She was getting tired of the color in her hair. Maybe this time she would make it red. She hadn't had it red in a long time.

"So what are you going here?"

[Chloe Luna]

"HI!"

Spotting some older Gryffindors hanging out Chloe couldn't help but come and join them with a big ole grin.

"Hey... Hey Frankie... have you thought about the team for next year... I'd make a great player..."

She grinned to Maya and sat down right by her, mimicking her posture as if that would make her just as cool as Maya.

"You play Maya? Bet you're ruddy brilliant."

[Frankie]

"Yea... guess I could see how a guy might act up to try and impress you."

Frankie flirted before Chloe came up and joined them on the stairs. Then it was on about Quidditch and that and flying could always get his mind on one track for a long while.

"YES! You have to try out. I bet you're a million times better than your sister. Oh and while we're here... how come you never try out Maya? The team needs some good players. Not saying our current team is bad, we are just real short handed."

And Frankie had ulterior motives, if Maya joined the team that meant that the two of them would have to spend more time together. It'd really give him a chance to get to know her but he gave an innocent/dorky smile that hid whatever he might have been thinking.

[Chloe Luna]

"You know it!"

Chloe would claim to be better than her sister. She could best her in a race anyway. Then Frankie was being all weird "guy" on Maya and it went over Chloe's head so she became bored with the conversation.

"OH! I forgot!"

She took off as quickly as she arrived. That girl was always all over the place. Evidently she was supposed to be somewhere else right now.

[Maya Porter]

"All the time," she mumbled to Frankie almost sarcastically.

Maya smiled slightly at Cloe who sat down by them. Quidditch. The whole school seemed focused on quidditch like it was their life. It was quite possible that is was some of their lives.

"Not the type for quidditch!"

She laughed, but it came out almost as a cackle. She felt Cloe run off perkily. There was no way anyone would see Maya do that.

"That's the type for quidditch." she pointed her thumb back, without looking.

[Frankie]

“See you round Chloe…”

Frankie said as an afterthought since she darted off before he really got much of a chance to say anything else. Then Maya said something about not being the type for Quidditch and he couldn’t help but laugh.

“For serious? If anyone here I didn’t peg you as the sort to stereotype people or let yourself fall into an expected path. No one would even see it coming; you joining the team would be so out of left field. Bet you’d make a hell of an intimidating beater. But yea, if the game is too challenging, then it’s too challenging.”

Now Frankie was poking around with his statements trying to find the right button to push that might trigger her into at least consider joining the team.

"Then again… with Benny on the team… he might not focus if you showed up. Little guy has the cutest crush. But hey, what’s there not to like? Are you going to put your name in for the Tournament next year? I don't even know if there is going to be quidditch since we're hosting."

He HATED the idea that quidditch might be cancelled for the year on account of some stupid quest for glory.
