"Oh Vlad... forgive me I hadn't meant to..."

And he was gone. She sighed heavily and looked to Thomas with a defeated expression.

"He is good people, really, he has just been through a really hard time. I forget that I have to be careful what I say. Things we would normally say and only consider polite... can upset him."

It was difficult walking on eggshells with Vlad. She was just trying to be polite and treat him the same as she treated anyone else and that was unintentionally insulting in and of itself.

"By the way I still have my gift on my desk, it is quite the conversation piece actually."

Most didn't know what the newtons cradle was and were compelled to ask about it and those who did know what it was really found it comforting to see, usually those people were of muggle birth or mixed lines and seeing things from both worlds represented in her office really did put those patients at ease.
