DADA 2011 Class 1: Years 1-3

[Raven]

Previously, the Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom had been a series of desks in rows facing a black board. There would be some instruction of random spells or explanation of dark arts or magical creatures of a dark nature. The desks were gone entirely; instead there were four rows of benches at either side of the classroom. Behind each row of benches the flag for each house was hung. The benches were at least ten feet from the front of the room and the chalkboard simply read.

Today we shall be covering E.S.P.

There were four practice dummies at the front of the room which Professor Raven was clearly setting up for the beginning of class.

[Benjamin]

Benny found the Gryffindor bench,
settled,
and waited for the others.

"ESP? Isn't that Divination? OI! I mean..."

Bloody hell!

Forcing his mouth to be still and make no noise he popped his hand in the air to ask the question proper even if no one else had arrived yet.

[Raven]

"Ahhh now that is an excellent question my young friend. You will have to wait and see just what I mean by ESP in regards to the defensive arts. What is your name?"

He would have to commit this to memory. The question had him smiling and he was not offended in the least. When students ask questions they were learning and he wanted to encourage this ten fold.

[Kiwoharu Kimishima]

The new year had just begun, and Kiwoharu didn't want to be late to a single class. He arrived just in time to hear the Griffindor boy's question and the teacher's answer. He picked a relatively forward place in the Ravenclaw area and sat down on the bench. It seemed this teacher would be nice enough.

[Cosette Sansouci]

Cosette walked into the room. She paused as she read the board. ESP? She shook her head. It would all be explained before too long.

"'ello professor. 'ow are you today?" She greeted the professor, before taking her seat.

[Rani Kailas]

Rani smiled as she saw that she wasn't going to be the first Ravenclaw to class. She quickly took a seat next to Kiwoharu.

"Hiya! I'm so excited for this class! I hope today's really hands-on." She began chatting.

[Benjamin]

Benny mouthed an "o" and waited patiently for class to start. Only Gryffindor? Hmph!

[Chloe Luna]

"B-b-b-Benny and the Jets!"

Chloe half sang as she came up and joined Benny in the Gryffindor area giving him a fair slug in the arm like they were best pals. It might have been a harder hit than just a friendly hit, Chloe forgets her own strength sometimes.

[Poppet]

Poppet skipped into class and joined the other Gryffindors before looking at the board. ESP? If Benny hadn't already asked Poppet would have asked what that had to do with DADA.

[Kiwoharu Kimishima]

There was soon someone sitting next to him. First came her chatting toward him, and then the sound of another girl, one that he had decided to avoid in the future after she nearly tripped over him in Charms. The other girl, this fellow Ravenclaw, was at most half as annoying as that Griffindor. He decided to give this one an answer instead of awkward silence. "I hope so too. I do my best learning doing things for myself, rather than reading things out of a book."
