Sheehan: Case 318 (R Lancaster)

Severus had seen the magic come and glanced away for a moment, just to see who the hell did that. Then he nodded in approval to Lancaster, the guy must have had a beef with Aurors as much as he did. At this distance he could not see that the man was also an Auror. If he had realized that he might have gotten worse than he was already. Instead he laughed thinking he had some sort of backup across the way. Must have been another MOB.

"Forget all of this Dragon. Why continue to build castle after castle for the pureblood filth when you could aspire to a more noble cause and make a haven for your own kind."

He knew damn well Ohtori was too damn self-righteous to accept such an offer. Somewhere in that warped mind of his, he believed he was doing the right thing, protecting all wizards but Severus couldn't see it that way. The ministry served to protect itself and the purest of wizard kind. If something else got protected it was an unexpected byproduct and in no way intentional.

"Well... if you're not with us Dragon... you're against us!"

Severus rolled 1 6-sided dice:
1
Stab the stuck hand.

Dash it all, he went for his knife but as luck would have it, the thing naturally got stuck in his sleeve and that was not helping his attempts at all.

Ryuu Ohtori rolled 1 8-sided dice:
2
portkey

Ohtori put the cuffs on Severus as he stood there with his arms out, unable to pull his dagger because it was caught. The fates had to be laughing at them all because it was one big mess up after another. Ohtori went for the portkey then found his pocket was empty. He glanced back to where he came from and a glint of light on the floor showed the portkey had fallen from his pocket. If he could get Severus to it then there was still a chance. For a fleeting moment he looked to his partner hoping he would realize what Ryuu just realized. If he could levitate the coin to touch Severus then he would be sent to jail and the both of them could breathe easy. Otherwise they had to go about this the hard way and try and force Severus to step on the coin.

Robert blinked as Sheehan turned and gave him an approving nod, it was apparent that the target felt he had another ally in the room. The idea that he could have screwed the targeting of his spell so badly and still have it turn out moderately well was astounding to him and he almost froze up momentarily at the absurdity of it. The fact that Sheehan actually seemed to be attempting to recruit Ohtori for some sort of anti-Pureblood faction just made the entire situation more surreal.

He tried to puff himself up and look intimidating, like he’d seen so many other thugs do in his career as an Auror, in the hopes that he could get close enough to Sheehan to finish this without too much more fuss. He tried to make it look like he was glaring at Ohtori as he made his way across the room while attempting to keep an eye on Sheehan so that he could come up behind him and incapacitate him.

Then the ridiculousness of the encounter increased yet again; Sheehan declared Ohtori the enemy and attempted to produce the knife he was palming – which promptly got stuck in his sleeve and rendered temporarily useless, and Ohtori reached out and snapped the cuffs onto Sheehan. It was hard not to laugh hysterically as Ohtori reached into the pocket where he’d placed the Portkey and obviously come up empty. Robert didn’t know why but in this comedy of errors he’d have been surprised if the damned thing had been where it was supposed to be.

He took another step toward his partner and Sheehan when a glint of light off something on the floor caught his attention; the Portkey was all but winking at him from where it had fallen to the floor. Trying to make Sheehan step directly on the stupid thing seemed like it would be impossible as well, knowing that it was indifferent to who touched it and activated it and not wanting to end up in Azkaban himself, he waved his wand and silently incanted the levitation charm.

Robert Lancaster rolled 1 8-sided dice:
6

It actually surprised him when the spell worked as it was supposed to and the Portkey rose to about waist height. It should have been fairly easy to arrange things so that Sheehan bumped into it as he walked.

He tried to stab Ryuu. Finally pulling his knife free of his sleeve, Sheehan lunged at Ohtori. Unfortunately there was a portkey in his path. Like one of those cartoons where the figure does not realize he has ran off a cliff until he looks down, Sheehan looked down. He dropped his knife and POOF he was gone. The mission had been a success.
